Rifles for the .223 utilize a wide range of rifling twist rates, from 1 twist in 7″ to 1 twist in 12″. Bullets above 60 grains require fastertwists to provide the best accuracy. As a general rule, bolt action rifles have a 1 in 12″ twist and shoot best with bullet weights of60 grains or less. Semi-automatic rifles produced since 1985 generally have a faster twist and can stabilize the heavier bullets butmay not perform as well with the lightest bullets. The 60 grain versions are a good choice for agencies or individuals who need onebullet weight to work in a variety of rifles with different twist rates from 1 in 7″ to 1 in 12″. Velocities shown are from 24″ barrels.
